AT&T Service
This AT&T phone can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network, which is available in most major metropolitan areas. The AT&T 3G network uses the dual-band UMTS 850/1900 MHz network, and this phone is also compatible with 2100 MHz 3G networks (found in international territories). The AT&T 3G network provides download speeds ranging from 700 Kbps to 1.7 Mbps, and upload speeds ranging from 500 Kbps to 1.2 Mbps. This makes it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless multimedia services, and it gives you the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services. (For use outside the United States, an AT&T international data plan is recommended.)
In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. You'll also enjoy quad-band GSM connectivity, which allows you to make calls in more than 190 countries and access data applications in the more than 135 countries where AT&T offers international data roaming.
You can take advantage of the AT&T Navigator GPS software and service, a full-featured premium navigation application that includes audible turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates and re-routing options, and 3D moving maps (additional charges applicable). AT&T Navigator offers several other features to make your commute more enjoyable and reliable, including mobile access to Yellowpages.com. Additionally, AT&T Navigator is the only mobile phone-based GPS service that provides integrated speech recognition for address entry and points of interest search.

Your calendar events are exchanged wirelessly and automatically so that your desktop calendar and BlackBerry handheld calendar are synchronized. All your Outlook meeting requests, changes, and updates are instantaneously synchronized instantaneously with your desktop. Make meeting requests, invite new attendees and more, all on your Blackberry Bold. Users without BlackBerry Enterprise Server support can manually sync with their desktop calendars and contacts via Bluetooth or USB using the included BlackBerry Desktop Software.
You'll enjoy enhanced Internet browsing on the Blackberry Bold. The trackball mimics a mouse, making it easy to navigate sites in Page View or Column View or to zoom in on specific parts of a web page, while various emulation settings allow you to choose between the full desktop-style HTML content and layout or the mobile version. Attachments can also now be downloaded from within the browser and there is support for watching streaming videos (RTSP, real-time streaming protocol).

Blackberry Bold is fine. AT&T is opportunistic and ruthless when it comes to replacing phones or working with their customers. After 10 years, they just told me that my recently purchased and accidentally damaged phone (for which I didn't opt for insurance that would have had a $150 deductible) will cost me $450 to replace. Same phone is going for less than $200 for anyone else. Disappointing.

I bought this phone a couple months ago and I love it. The screen is amazingly bright and clear. The phone takes great pictures (with flash!) that are crisp and colorful- even when you blow them up on the computer screen. It syncs quickly and easily with my computer. The internet and wifi are both easy to use and speedy! The only complaint I have at all is the battery life. My old Curve lasted days with heavy use but with this one- I use it about half a day and it's dead. I do suggest an extended battery just in case and a car charger as well. I love the amount of memory built into the phone and it's design. It's the perfect size and build.
Easily the best phone I've owned,

This phone is amazing. It has survived dropps, two drops in the toilet (accidental of course), and several other mishaps and it still works amazingly. The apps are great, the GPS is great, the signal is great. The only bad thing is it's memory management. You get the infuriating hourglass every now and then which requires a restart.

OMG, this is by far the best chose I have made in choosing a cell phone. I love it ... Never been so damn happy in my life with this chose. I have a Blackberry 8310 and love it and ready to upgrade with AT&T and decided to chose another BB... I looked at each one and decided to choose the BB bold white 9000. WOW, do I love this cell phone. The keys are soft and so easy to use. The style is cute and I honestly "just love it". I am new at the internet stuff but find it so easy to get on line and search what ever it is that I need. The phone is self explanatory as far as the other BB just more of a upgrade in itself. I just love it. The size is GREAT!!! If you are looking to upgrade Amazon is the place to go and there service is GREAT as well. I had no issues getting it up and running and Amazon's customer service was great. I just love it...
First smart phone, last Blackberry,

This purchase has been one of my biggest disappointments and a cause of a lot of frustrations. The only reason I chose the Bold over the iPhone is because I liked to have a keyboard. However, within six months the phone started malfunctioning.
First, the phone started freezing every once in a while and I had to wait five to ten seconds for the phone to respond again. I thought this could be due to all the apps installed on the phone, but uninstalling the apps changed nothing and the phone still freezes every day.
The memory on this phone is laughable. I only have four or five apps installed (each is less than 3 MB in size) yet the memory meter shows that I am running out of memory. I purchased a 4 GB mini SD card but apparently you cannot save apps to the card.
The App Store (Blackberry App World) is by far the most frustrating part of the phone. Most of the time it times out or gives you a range of error messages. When it does connect successfully, you realize that there aren't any good or cool apps to install. Also, the apps that are free or cost very little on the iPhone cost an arm and a leg on the Blackberry! There are very few good apps for the Blackberry that are free (or costs $3 or less).
Internet browsing is extremely slow, even in 3G. In fact, I don't think the browser is meant to be used for surfing the net. I installed Opera Mini instead and that has been working fine, except you cannot multitask with Opera so you have to close it every time you want to do something else.
General problems with connecting to the Internet. I'm not sure if this is a problem with Blackberry or the service provider (AT&T in my case), but most of the apps have problems connecting to the internet. The only app that almost always connect is the Opera Mini. Google Mobile App, Movies (by Rotten Tomatoes), and other apps all have problems connecting.
Some apps are simply not well configured to work with the Bold. I have WikiMobile and every time I open it I receive a warning saying "the app is trying to connect to the internet". I changed the permissions settings to allow it to connect, but I still receive the warning message every time which is very annoying. The same is true with Opera Mini. Finding solutions online and on discussion forums seems quite impossible.
The quality of the Bold is definitely subpar. I have had the phone for one year now and it no longer opens my e-mail messages (which triggered me to write this review), the trackball is not as smooth as it used to be, and the freezing (seizures?) are becoming more frequent.
I still think this phone is an upgrade from my previous non-smart phone and I love the Google sync, the calendar, the ability to create .txt files, conversation style text messaging, and visual voice mail. However, the next time I buy a smart phone (which will not be until next year, when I am eligible for an upgrade with AT&T), it will definitely not be a Blackberry.
