After seeing the great job the Furminator did on my friend's dog, I decided to give it a try on my own dog. I had read reviews that warned about the blade cutting the hair but I was so impressed with the results I had seen firsthand, I got one anyway.

I have a Samoyed, a double-coated breed. I started with the Furminator and was disappointed at how little of the undercoat it actually removed. The teeth are not long enough to get through the undercoat and I saw that, along with the little undercoat it was pulling out, there were also long strands from the topcoat in the Furminator. After about 10 minutes I gave up. The Furminator just wasn't effective at getting through her coat and I was concerned about damage to the topcoat. I went back to using my trusty undercoat rake, which is far more effective than the Furminator and doesn't damage the coat.

I have seen good results with this product on other dogs, but do not recommend it for breeds with dense undercoats and silky topcoats.

I bought this brush on Ebay for around $12 including shipping. A friend had recommended it. It is unbelievable! I cannot believe the amount of hair that comes out of my dog. It is almost like I am shaving her, but the comb is not cutting the hair. We have Rottweilers and their hair is medium length, very thick, and soft. It probably wouldn't work as well on any breed. A couple cons.....you can't use on wet hair and you have to use outdoors because it make a huge mess. Nice brush.

I have a golden retriever whose hair seems to be everywhere in the house. I've tried all sorts of brushes and daily routines and still have hair everywhere. And then I finally decided to try the Furminator. I ordered it on Thursday night and was told I should expect it on Wednesday morning as it had to come all the way to India but it arrived on Monday itself. I tried it out. It is amazing! Gobs and gobs of hair came off. My dog actually enjoys the brushing, looks a lot sleeker (I hope he feels the heat less) and better groomed and the fur is a lot softer! I actually got compliments on his grooming when I took him to the vet yesterday. I only wish I had discovered it earlier.

This product is fantastic. As soon as I started using it, the amount of hair that came off my dog was incredible. I have a Australian Kelpie which is a medium sized sheep dog. He has short hair, but sheds like crazy all year round. The brush took off much of the undercoat that is needed keep the amount of shedding to a minimum.
