Product Description

This 12 volt receptacle is manufactured from corrosion resistant marine grade materials. An unique interconnecting system securely locks the plug into the receptacle resulting in a positive and moisture proof connection. Perfect for boats, which vibrate and bounce due to rough water. Simply line up the tabs on the plug with the arrows on the receptacle and press the plug into the receptacle until it seats. The plug is locked into place. To remove the plug, just rotate it 20 degrees and pull out. Receptacle features a watertight sealing cap, and is easy to install.

Overall it is fine for now. I installed it in the rear side of the fiberglass bed of an '09 Tacoma for an extra power source. Easy wireing to the +12VDC hitch wire bundle and a bumper bolt ground, but, the fuse holder it came with prevented the fuse from making contact on one end. After about an hour of troubleshooting I discovered the fuse was not contacting the the non-spring side of the fuse-holder and pushed it in. Time-will-tell if it will remain functional or if the contact will recede into the housing. Then I would need to replace the fuse holder. I think it is as nice a +12VDC outlet device as one can find, with the one star ding due to the questionable fuse holder it came with. Be aware of the seal loss from the heat shrinkage factor others mention; mine has not been on long enough to discover this problem. So keep it above snow/water-line and tape off the connections.

Have installed a bunch of these (about half dozen on my pontoon boat, riding mower, etc.). Quick way to hook up a 5 amp charger (e.g. Minn Kota MK-105P) where you have several boat batteries. The fuses can be downsized for whatever device you're plugging in because each of the associated plugs has it's own fuse. They lock nicely and stay in when you're going across rough water. The glitch is that after a few weeks of being exposed to sunlight, the covers warp & won't stay closed, so there goes the weather-proof feature. However, it's pretty easy to fix. Simply cut some short lengths of 1/2 inch CPVC pipe (about .3 inch in length is ideal) and press into each of the rubber cover caps, then the covers stay shut. No big deal, but this should be done before the customer gets it.
If you are gonna' use these on a boat, solder the wires to the back of the socket and be done with it. However, the socket can't take much heat, so tin the wires, stick 'em through the holes in the connectors, then solder it quickly to avoid melting the socket.

This is a good product, arrived on time, brand new in box no complaints. It is basically a copy of the original Marinco Sealink 12v outlet only with lesser quality. four stars max, five to the Marinco. I own both. You get what you pay for.
